The Cincinnati Alexander Technique community is pleased to welcome Gabriella Minnes Brandes
_
Gaby Minnes Brandes, Ph.D. has been teaching the Alexander Technique since
1988. She is the co-director of the Vancouver School of the Alexander Technique
teacher training program which she founded in 2002. She maintains a thriving
private practice and currently teaches the Alexander Technique in the Theatre
Department at Capilano University. Much of her current work and research
focuses on exploring the connections between Alexander Technique and creativity
as it pertains to musicians, singers and actors, some of which she has
presented at the Lugano congress. Previously on council of CanSTAT,
and currently on the CanSTAT Teacher Training Committee, Gaby has a particular
interest in ways to train people to become effective Alexander teachers and how
to evaluate their work.

Workshops will take place at the Lloyd House, graciously hosted by Ellen Beirhorst
Single workshop: $85/person - or $70/person with early registration by April 10

ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE: SKILL AND ART
How do people acquire individual skills? How does an Alexander Technique teacher use his or her hands to help a student learn and practice his\her chosen craft? Drawing upon the work of theorists and coaches who work with peak-performers, this workshop will present specific strategies for teaching skill-acquisition, and for efficient and effective ways to learn and practice various skills in the context of using Alexander's procedures.

HOW CAN WE USE OUR BREATH AND VOICE EFFICIENTLY
APPLYING ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE PRINCIPLES?
Using and teaching Whispered Ah:
Informed by the work of Kristen Linklater (Freeing the Natural Voice), Patsy Rodenberg (The Right to Speak) and Michael McCallion (The Voice Book) we will experiment with the application of Alexander’s principles to the exploration of breath and voice.

Friday 20 April 2012: 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, or 3:30 PM.
(45 - 50 minutes each, and scheduled on the hour): $85/lesson.
Lessons can be shared or split between people. You are encouraged to share a lesson with a colleague with whom you exchange work regularly (or would like to exchange with regularly), or with a student that you would like to expand work with. Gaby has extensive experience working with musicians and actors. They are invited to share lessons so that they can learn both from experiencing and observing.
